Job description
A multi-national, Africa-focused investment group is looking for a passionate and purpose-driven Group Accountant to join their team in Stellenbosch . As the Group Accountant , you will play a key role in managing the financial health of the organization while contributing to the company’s mission of a positive impact in Africa.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Accounting:
- Monthly bookkeeping.
- Reconciliations for banks, debtors, and creditors.
- Monthly payroll processing.
- Compilation of monthly management accounts.
- Preparation of cash flow forecasts and annual budgets.
- Finalization of general ledgers for annual audit.
- Preparation of supporting schedules & documentation for the annual audit.
- Coordination of arrangements for the annual audit.
- Review and coordination of the annual financial statement.
Taxation:
- Registration for income tax, provisional tax, VAT, PAYE, UIF, and SDL.
- Calculation, completion, and submission of various tax returns.
- Employees' tax reconciliations (EMP501 and IRP5's).
- Obtaining tax clearance certificates and managing correspondence with Revenue Authorities.
Banking:
- Preparation of payment requisitions and expense claims.
- Administration of online banking, including payment capture, liquidity management, foreign exchange conversions, etc.
- Arranging credit facilities, credit cards, vehicle finance, etc., as needed.
- Corresponding with the bank to amend and/or obtain any information.
Company Secretarial:
- Registration of companies.
- Submission of company changes to CIPC.
- Completion and submission of annual returns to CIPC.
- Maintenance of company registers (share register, register of directors).
- Issuing share certificates.
- Drafting meeting agendas & minutes.
Office Management:
- Managing office operational, IT, and administrative matters.
- Document and record management.
- Maintenance of office supplies.
- Ensuring office cleanliness, organization, and functionality.
- Preparing the office and meeting rooms for meetings.
- Assisting with planning and coordinating events.
- Assisting with travel and/or delivery arrangements.
General:
- Assisting management with overall Group management and growth.
- Supporting management and the investment team as needed.
- Assisting with the preparation of board packs and investor communication.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Accounting / BCom Accounting degree is essential.
- An honours degree is highly desirable.
- Qualified AGA (SA), Professional Accountant (SA), or CIMA candidate is preferred.
- 3 - 10 years of total experience.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills in both English and Afrikaans .
- Previous experience as a Group Accountant would be advantageous, but not a requirement.
- Previous experience working on Sage and/or Xero.
Salary and other benefits:
- R25 000 - R45 000 CTC (slightly negotiable based on relevant experience)
