Backend Node Developer

• OptumNow the Google of healthcare
  • Developing a largescale search engine that provides the most relevant medical information (ex. When you search diabetes an article about diabetes a diabetes doctor nearby treatment options will all return as results)
  • There are multiple teams supporting this product this team specifically focuses on big data as it relates to searching integrating APIs with multiple data sources determining a system to decide which results return in the most relevant order
  • They are very early on in this project laying the groundwork and piecing the architecture together would like to have 4 search types integrated by EOY

Responsibilities:

• Primary focus will be developing the search APIs and integrating them with the data sources and OptumNow
  • Heavy backend work the UI is very basic so they will not be touching it much
• Heavy collaboration with other OptumNow teams to identify issues and find/develop solutions will be working a lot with data engineering teams

Must Haves:

• 5 years of experience this is the absolute minimum
• NodeJS backend focused
  • Will primarily be developing and integrating APIs
• AWS this platform is cloud based
  • Lambdas Event Bridge S3 Dynamo Set Functions need to have as many of these as possible.
• GraphQL

What Will Win:

• Experience integrating with search engines they use Algolia and are starting to use Vespa
• Big Data
• Previous healthcare would be nice big data experience would be more helpful
• Go & Terraform most of this work will likely be done by the time this resource joins

Pain Points:

• Has had contractors who dont/cant/wont communicate their blockers need people who can be proactive reach out when theyre running into issues ask questions
• HR is sourcing a lot of Java/Spring candidates NOT the profile were looking for
