Job description
Job Brief:
We are seeking a detailoriented and organized individual to join our team as a Purchasing Assistant at Selective Insurance. As a Purchasing Assistant you will play a vital role in supporting our purchasing department by ensuring the timely and efficient procurement of goods and services. Your attention to detail and ability to multitask will be essential in maintaining accurate records coordinating with vendors and assisting with the overall procurement process.
Responsibilities: - Assist with the procurement of goods and services by researching potential vendors obtaining quotes and negotiating prices
- Prepare purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods
- Maintain accurate records of purchases including invoices receipts and contracts
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve any issues or discrepancies
- Monitor inventory levels and track deliveries to ensure stock availability
- Assist with vendor selection and evaluation processes
- Conduct market research to identify new products and suppliers
- Assist with contract administration and compliance
- Collaborate with other departments to understand purchasing needs and requirements
- Provide administrative support to the purchasing team as needed
Skills Required:
- Associates degree in business administration or a related field (Bachelors degree preferred)
- 12 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Knowledge of purchasing processes and procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problemsolving and analytical skills
