Position Description
The Role reports on-site to the Managing Director, Ecobat Resources Italy with a functional reporting line to the Vice President, Global Human Resources based in Dallas, Texas in the U.S.
Ecobat Resources Italy employs around 130 staff and has a production capacity of 80,000 tons of downstream value-add lead and lead alloys derivatives per year. Most of the raw materials derive from industrial markets via Group purchasing and collection services. As with all Ecobat companies, the Ecobat Resources operation is run to the highest possible health, safety and environmental standards.
Role
The HR Manager reports to the Managing Director supporting the senior management team to provide employment advice within the legislative framework in the local regions in Italy.
The role is primarily located in Marcianise with responsibility for all Italy Resource locations. The main responsibilities are:
- Devise and deliver the overall HR Strategy, ensuring alignment with the business plan.
- Work with management to complete the full employee lifecycle, providing advice and solutions where needed to ensure the smooth and effective running of HR.
- Be an operational expert, advising key stakeholders and line managers on a range of complex ER issues.
- Be an advocate of the organisation’s culture and core values, driving these values through the HR team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific Tasks
HR
- Lead on organization change management projects, build talent and succession plans across the business through implementing and overseeing an effective performance management process.
- Review employee engagement and flag concerns before they become an issue, building on positive values.
- Implement and oversee internal staff recognition programmes and employee benefits, advising and coaching all staff.
- Collaborate and assess Learning and Development needs and solutions to drive a highly engaged and productive workforce.
- Manage complex employee relations casework and ensure all HR matters are handled fairly and consistently.
- Act as a point of escalation for advice or involvement with any disciplinary, grievance, capability, investigation, or other employee relations hearings.
- Prepare appropriate HR reports as requested.
- Lead a recruitment strategy that attracts candidates with the right skills and ensure a positive candidate experience through effectively forecasting and managing vacancies.
- Advise managers on terms and conditions of employment, ensuring legislative and legal requirements are met.
- Deal with the company pension administrators to ensure requests and queries are processed in a timely manner.
- Contribute to and support the continuous improvement of HR policies and practices ensuring they reflect best practice and help drive organisation performance by remaining fit for purpose.
- Strong knowledge of English is highly preferred.
Operations
- Provide objectives to support the HR strategy for the Senior Management Team.
- Produce quantitative and qualitative management information on all aspects of the employee lifecycle.
- Review and authorise the monthly payroll submission to make sure it is accurate and completed and processed on time.
- Conduct strategic reviews and implementation of cost management initiatives.
Health & Safety
- Oversee the advancement of employee liability insurance claims.
- Communicate and report the health and safety policy, procedure, and statistics throughout the company.
- Be an active member of the Health and Safety Committee and monthly Health, Safety and Environment Steering Group (HSESG).
- Actively carry out management tours, BBS and Good Catch reporting within the business.
- Lead by example in all Health and Safety matters.
- Ensure all work conforms with the requirements of Ecobat Resources Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental and Energy policies.
Management
- Oversee and develop the HR staff while actively encouraging their personal and professional development through regular one-to-one meetings and performance reviews.
- Support the HR team with professional advice as required, challenge them appropriately to expand their understanding whilst ensuring fairness and consistency of process.
Qualifications
SPECIFIC SKILLS
- Relevant Degree and/or membership of a professional body of recognised Graduate Status: CIPD.
- Excellent working knowledge of current employment law and best practice.
- Previous experience leading an HR team, ideally in the manufacturing industry.
- Excellent IT skills including familiarity with HR databases and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
- Experience working with the leadership team, strongly influencing in a partnering approach.
- Significant experience of effectively managing challenging employee relations issues and disputes.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
A. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to travel as requested to other Ecobat Resource locations and to the corporate home office in the United States as needed.
