Job description
Overview:
This Chemist is a member of an interdisciplinary team of epidemiologists and public health consultants assisting Arkansas in reaching its strategic public health goals. This position will be onsite working in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Essential Functions:
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of chemistry and chemical analysis and the ability to execute on those skills.
- Perform chemical analysis using standard and specialized laboratory equipment.
- Use different instrument operating software and Laboratory Information Management Systems.
- Perform and supervise the preparation of laboratory equipment and laboratory tests.
- Ensures that biomonitoring surveillance specimens samples are analyzed per CDC guidelines within the prescribed holding time.
- Assumes responsibility for instrumentation assigned, documents daily maintenance, calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and assures all quality assurance objectives are maintained for the analytical methods performed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Provide a list of conference calls, meetings, trainings and workshops participated in.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent degree in a health sciences field.
- 0 to 1 years’ experience in a public health or clinical laboratory.
- Previous experience using mass spectrometry instrumentation.
- Two years’ experience with Microsoft office programs.
- Two years’ experience planning, organizing and coordinating work assignments.
