Job description

The Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) serves as an additional patient care provider, augmenting the services and extending the availability of patient care provided by the practice's health care team. The PA-C will exercise his or her patient care and medical decision making autonomy within established clinical parameters mutually agree to and set forth upon hire, and will provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic service as defined within those clinical parameters. The expected patient population encountered by the PA-C will range from the accepted age for young patients to geriatric patients.

Education and Qualifications

Attain and retain certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Retain licensure to provide covered physician assistant services in the state of Iowa

Physician Assistant consistently demonstrates satisfactory acquisition and implementation of skills in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.

Physician Assistant does not engage in, nor work for any individual, firm, or corporation engaged in, the same or similar activities now or hereafter carried on by Steindler Orthopedic Clinic, PLC during the time of employment without the consent of the Executive Committee of Steindler Orthopedic Clinic, PLC.

Physician Assistant does not act in contradiction to the ethical standards established by the American Medical Association and the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and shall conduct himself/herself both privately and professionally in such manner as will not reflect discredit to Steindler Orthopedic Clinic, PLC.


Expected Hours of Work

Requires flexible work schedule as work load varies from day to day and time of day. Will be scheduled a rotating "on call" schedule.

Work Environment

Will work in both an office/clinic setting and a surgical setting.

• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

• Push/pull/pick up 50-100 pounds with assistance.
