PRN Charge Nurse RN – ED

Work location: Texas Health Flower Mound – 4400 Long Prairie rd, Flower Mound, Texas 75028

Work hours: PRN, Days

· Nursing Diploma required or

· Associate’s Degree in Nursing required and

· Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred

· 1 year experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting required

· 2 years experience preferred

· RN upon hire required and

· BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required

What You Will Do

Texas Health’s nursing theory is the Quality Caring Model© developed by Dr. Joanne Duffy. A nursing theory has principles that underlie the art of nursing and drive the science behind our practice. The eight caring factors listed below must be demonstrated by all nurses, and charge nurses must model this behavior consistently. This role directly assists leadership on a particular unit or units and shift, by offering staff guidance and support, maintaining a clean and safe work environment and ensuring unit operational tasks are completed. Individuals in this role will demonstrate:

· Quality Management - Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.

· Conflict Management - Understanding of how to anticipate, recognize, and deal effectively with existing or potential conflicts at the individual, group, or situation level; ability to apply this understanding appropriately to diverse situations.

· Decision Making and Critical Thinking - Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

· Patient Safety - Knowledge of and experience with tools, techniques and practices for ensuring a safe and harm-free environment for patients; ability to recognize risks and take steps to minimize them.

· Care Coordination - Knowledge of the medical, social, economic, and other services provided by other departments or facilities, and the ability to integrate these multidisciplinary treatments for optimal patient care.

· Clinical Policies and Standards - Knowledge of all clinical standards and policies set for a healthcare environment; ability to use industry standards, policies and procedures in the processes of clinical practice.

· Patient Rights - Knowledge of principles and practices associated with the rights and responsibilities of patients and caregivers; ability to apply these theories to identify, report, deal with and prevent patient rights violations.
