Assistant Professor of Criminology, Department of Sociology and Anthropology (Tenure Track) ST. Division/Department Information The Department of Sociology and Anthropology in the St. John's College of Arts and Sciences at St. John's University is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor, to begin in Fall 2021. Founded in 1870, St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (SJC) is the foundation of and oldest division at St. John's University. For more information visit The Department of Sociology and Anthropology offers a master's program of Criminology & Justice to a diverse body of students as well as undergraduate and graduate M.A. level programs in Sociology, and undergraduate programs in Anthropology and Social Work. Responsibilities As a tenure-track Assistant Professor, the new hire is expected to maintain an active record of publications and scholarship, teach a variety of Criminology courses at the graduate and undergraduate level, advise students, and contribute to the continued growth of the Criminology & Justice Program and the development of the department, college and university community. Qualifications Applicants for the tenure-track Assistant Professor position should hold a PhD in Criminology or Sociology from an accredited institution at the time of appointment (Fall 2024). The areas of expertise are open, with preference for the following: Digital Criminology, Policing at the Intersections of Gender & Race, Conviction & Rehabilitation, Critical Race Criminology, Decolonization Criminology, Feminist Criminology, Convict Criminology, and/or Restorative Justice & Peacemaking Criminology. A demonstrated record of research and publications, and a genuine interest in teaching, student mentoring and service are preferred.
