Job description

We are currently seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Senior Instructor to support the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Classification in Germantown, Maryland.

About the Position:
This role offers a compelling opportunity for a Senior Instructor to join our team. We offer competitive compensation and a hybrid onsite/remote work option. Once fully qualified in the position (approximately 6 months), the Senior Instructor will enjoy the flexibility of completing a significant portion of their work from home.

Responsibilities:
The Senior Instructor will play a pivotal role in developing and preparing Department of Energy (DOE) training materials in highly technical scientific subject areas. These subject areas relate to the work performed by our team of Classification Analysts, Declassification Analysts, and nuclear technology Subject Matter Experts. Additionally, the Senior Instructor will conduct training sessions on classification and sensitive information policies, guidelines, and procedures for the greater DOE and other government agency communities, including national laboratories and national security sites.

Subject Areas Include:

Nuclear weapon design
Nuclear weapon material production
Radiological emergency response
Safeguards and security of nuclear weapons and special nuclear material
Protection of Restricted Data, Formerly Restricted Data, and Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information
Requirements:

All applicants with a background in nuclear weapons will be strongly considered.
The ideal candidate will possess recent classification/declassification experience and at least two (2) years of direct training experience, including expertise in modern training techniques. This encompasses the development of course syllabuses, student evaluations, recognition of individual student requirements, and utilization of computer-based training systems.
Preference will be given to candidates who are DOE qualified Derivative Classifiers (DC), Derivative Declassifiers (DD), and have experience serving as an Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information Reviewing Official (UCNI RO). Training will be provided to attain these qualifications if necessary.
Education:

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is required, preferably in a scientific discipline (e.g., physical sciences, engineering, or mathematics). A Master's Degree is highly desirable.
Security Clearance:

This position requires an active DOE Q or DOD Top Secret security clearance.
