Every day, Kelly Services connects professionals with opportunities to advance their careers. We currently have an exciting 12+ month, long term contract opportunity as a Technical Writer for a top fortune 500 company based in Peoria IL.
Title: Technical Writer
Duration: 12+ months
Location: Peoria IL (able to work hybrid after initial training is complete)
Shift: M-F, 6:30 - 3:00pm are the ideal working hours but flexible
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The main function of a technical writer is to write technical materials, such as equipment materials, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions. A typical technical writer is responsible for organizing, editing and maintaining technical records and files.
Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.
Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
Confer with client to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication.
Candidate will be creating disassembly and assembly manuals written from a field service prospective.
Candidate will be authoring service manuals in a clean shop environment.
Candidate will be expected to adhere to all safety standards.
Using 3D models to create graphics for service information documents.
Working as a team on assigned projects requiring heavy collaboration.
High level of working with others, minimal independent work
Qualifications:
Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
Basic ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
Basic knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Basic knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods.
Basic knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
Basic knowledge of computer software, such as Adobe, JavaScript, Oracle, etc.
Strong mechanical aptitude
Extensive computer experience (proficient with Microsoft suite, etc).
Desired skills:
Diesel engine experience (assembly/disassembly)
Knowledge of safe service repair for Caterpillar engines, generators and heavy equipment
Technical writing experience
Knowledge of 3D models (Pro/e, Creo, Teamcenter Visualization preferred)
Knowledge of safe lifting, rigging, and hoist operations
Machine shop or farm experience
Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred
2-4 years’ experience required.
