The Who We Are Project is committed to educating every person in the United States on the truth of anti-Black racism in our history by researching and exposing long-hidden or ignored historical documents, cultivating citizen historians, producing educational content, and facilitating and modeling lifelong learning.
The Who We Are Project (“TWWAP”) envisions a time when true and accurate U.S. history is endemic not just throughout the U.S. but around the world.
We believe a reckoning with the true and complete history of anti-Black racism in the nation’s past and present is the first step to racial restoration and equity.
Towards this vision, TWWAP aims to be a fundamental resource for exposing truths about our history that have long been hidden and distorted. This space is a dynamic and active space for growth, documentation, sharing and telling our nation’s stories.
Role Responsibilities:
The Who We Are Project is hiring a Director of Development to lead a founding campaign and contribute income aspects of the inaugural operating budget to the organization's mission of eradicating anti-Black racism through education.
This role involves entrepreneurial leadership, fundraising strategy and execution, and team collaboration and management. We seek someone with serious fundraising tenacity who will lead, rally, inspire, influence, and mentor others. The Director of Development is responsible for strategic fundraising initiatives and operations. This includes overseeing the success of a Founding Campaign to raise $12.5 million in the first four years, with gifts ranging from $1 million to $10K.
Candidate Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE LEVEL
7-10 years of Senior Level Fundraising Experience
EDUCATION LEVEL
Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required, ACFRE or CFRE a plus
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Up to 30% seasonally (including quarterly meetings in Seattle, WA)
