Environmental Specialist Intern

Job description
Provide technical input on environmental monitoring and design or construction methods to ensure compliance with environmental specifications or regulatory standards.
- Audits, analyzes and reports environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies.
- Assists in groundcover applications and soil sampling
- Aids with erosion control inspections
- Maintain Erosion and sediment control devices
- Works with design and construction team advising how to avoid and minimize adverse environmental effects.
- Carries out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce the organization’s environmental risks and financial costs.
- Writes environmental reports for supervisor review and leadership presentation.
- Promotes and raises awareness, at all levels of the organization, of the impact of emerging environmental issues, whether legislative or best practice.
- Coordinates public hearings and consultations on environmental matters.
- Participates in environmental education and research.
- Maintains knowledge of Company’s values and strategic plan.
- Support published corporate policies.
- Perform additional assignments per management’s direction.
- Environmental Compliance Interns/co-ops are required to be currently enrolled in Environmental Sciences, Ecology, or a similar program at an accredited technical college or university.
- Basic understanding of Sustainable Business Practices
- Must be self-motivated and results oriented
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Experience working in a team environment
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Must have strong judgment and highly responsible
