EarthCorps (EC) is a Seattle-based nonprofit organization with a mission of developing leaders to strengthen community and restore the health of our environment. 

EC's Corps Program is an intensive year-long training program that unites young adults (ages 18-26ish) from across the United States and around the world to learn skills in community building, habitat restoration, and leadership. EC program participants are part of a diverse group of emerging environmental leaders committed to teamwork, service, and personal growth.

WASHINGTON CLIMATE CORPS NETWORK

The Volunteer Specialist is a Washington Climate Corps Network (WCCN) position with EarthCorps. The WCCN is a network of service organizations coordinated by Serve Washington that are supported by community and state allies working to address climate change in Washington. WCCN engages young adults (ages 17-31) and veterans to help build climate resilient communities, economies and ecosystems.

The WCCN prioritizes service to overburdened communites. These are areas where people who live there face disproportionate environmental harms and risks. They are often disproportionately comprised of people who may be minorities, low-income and/or tribal or indigenous.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Volunteer and Outreach Specailist works as part of the EarthCorps Community and Volunteer Engagement (CVE) program and assists in all aspects of volunteer organization, coordination, and community engagement events.

This role works alongside a team of 5 other specialists and provides a good mix of field experience along with office experience. The amount of time spent outdoors or in the office fluctuates throughout the year. Field work includes onsite leadership of volunteers of all ages, plant removal, native plant installation, facilitating outdoor educational activities, maintaining tools and equipment, and completing additional non-volunteer field projects with other crew members. Office tasks include planning for volunteer events, maintaining systems, and designing/implementing outreach activities for a variety of audiences.  Volunteer Specialists will participate fully in an orientation as well as designated retreats, workshops, and trainings throughout the year.  

Note: This position reports to the Senior Partnerships and Volunteer Manager and works closely with the Partnerships Director.
