Job description

Overview
MHA in Ulster County, Inc. seeks a Full Time (35 hours a week) RAH Coordinator who is responsible for providing trauma informed, non-clinical assistance services to help ensure that safe, quality person-centered services are provided to each individual, as well as maintain consistent communication with families and other service providers to ensure proper implementation of respite services.  
The MHA RAH (Respite, Advocacy, and Health) program serves individuals who live with their families and are diagnosed with a developmental disability. We offer meaningful recreational, social, and educational activities. While facilitating these activities, we are simultaneously supporting the family members of these individuals by providing respite. We offer individual and group support for all activities.

The RAH Coordinator has a schedule of Mon-Fri 9am - 4:30pm with possible alternating Saturdays.

The pay rate for this position is $19.71 hourly.

Responsibilities and Duties Include

  1. Coordinate and develop educational and skill building opportunities for adults who experience developmental challenges.  Oversee and coordinate a timely implementation of the program goals via the activity and group schedules. 
  2. Research, schedule, and lead activities, create a bimonthly newsletter and calendar of events that actively engage participants.
  3. Maintain safety and security of clients; follow established procedures in case of emergencies and intervene in situations where client may be endangering himself / herself or others.
  4. Plan and carry out celebrations and special events. Plan and participate in community events such as Walk for Autism and Special Olympics
  5. Facilitate conflict resolution, advocate in the community on behalf of all participants and work to create a comfortable and inclusive environment for all participants.
  6. Assists in gathering program data and in preparing quarterly reports with the expectation that contract outcomes are consistently met.
  7. Other Duties and Wellness Tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  1. High School Diploma/GED and 3 years experience in human services OR
    Associate degree in a Human Services field with 1-3 years’ experience in human services OR Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field OR
    Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) OR
    Certification as a Certified Peer Specialist OR
    OASAS Certified Peer Advocate
  2. Ability to work as a team member and to handle crisis situations.
  3. A clean, valid NYS driver’s license that will meet and maintain a satisfactory driving record consistent with agency and insurance standards and have been driving for at least 6 years.
  4. Clearance by the NYS Justice Center through fingerprinting for a Criminal History Records search.
  5. Clearance by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services for instances of child abuse and/or neglect.
  6. Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodations required by federal, state, or local law.
  7. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office is required.
