JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of the Night Shift Parts/Service Coordinator is to sell parts to walk in customers while maintaining work flow through the shop and relaying all stages of the process to the day shift personnel to maintain a seamless transition.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Fulfills parts requests from both internal service personnel and customers in a timely and proficient manner by assisting walk-in customers with selecting required parts, up selling, offering specials and ensure the customer is exposed to the full product lines. Facilitates all Parts Department functions on night shift.
2. Assigns service jobs to Service Technicians based upon their skill level and the time-of-completion directed by the Day Shift Service Writer and Service Manager. 
3. Personally performs quality control checks of workmanship on each service project with the assistance of a night shift technician that did not perform repair(s). 
4. Coordinates communication between Dayshift Service Writer, Service Technician and customer regarding recommended services, changes in repairs, costs, deadlines and approvals for such changes. 
5. Follow dealership policies on returns, core credits and check cashing policy.
6. Assisting the Service Manager and Service Coordinator with warranty repairs while making sure they are performed to the OEM warranty guidelines including tagging parts and filling out any and all TS sheets and specs.
7. Generates and maintains work orders and repair orders. Assists customer in identifying needed services. Issues clear repair instructions to Service Technicians.
8. Coordinates with Day Shift Service Writer and Service Manager to assure completion of work within time promised to customer. Monitors progress of repairs and updates customer on any changes in agreed service, costs, or time of completion. Obtains customer authorization for such changes.
9. Assist Parts Manager on specific duties as outlined in existing Parts Salesman job description pertaining to inventory, bin locations, parts ordering, PO processes, lost sale entries, timely process of credits/returns and night shift safety. 
10. Controls night shift cash box, including accepting payment from customers, reporting cash balances to credit Manager and securing box at close of business.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. High school diploma or the equivalent. Excellent communication and managerial skills. Must have a working knowledge of all heavy truck repair methods. Must have the ability to identify and meet Customer needs and requirements. Must be a hard worker and a self-starter and a problem solver. Organizational and time management skills a must. Exceptional phone and Customer service skills required. Appearance must meet the company image and requirements. 

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift, lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials. Must climb in and out of customer's vehicles to record information. S/he may be required to wear a dealership uniform.
