Come summer with us at the Minnehaha Country Club! We operate a large outdoor pool facility and are searching for top notch summer lifeguards to monitor our pool and it's visitors this summer. The Club's pool is open only to Club Members and their guests. Therefore, the pool does not get the extreme traffic levels that may exist in public pools. Compensation
- Lifeguards enjoy a starting wage of $17.00 - $20.00 based on experience.
Education and/or Experience
- American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid Certifications required.
- Some high school required.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
- Demonstrated ability to perform lifeguarding surveillance, rescue, CPR/AED and
first-aid techniques.
- Participates in pool safety programs and risk management.
- Employs only those methods and teaching techniques outlined and approved by the American Red Cross.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Deep Water) Certificate to include CPR and First Aid Certifications.
- American Red Cross Basic Swim Instructor and Water Safety Instructor Certificates desirable but not required.
Job Summary / Essential Functions
Contribute to the operation of safe, clean, well-maintained and appealing club swimming facilities. Supervise members and guests in and around the swimming pool, ensuring adherence to all water safety policies and procedures. Maintain a high standard of personal appearance, training readiness, and teamwork among pool staff. Assist in routine pool cleaning tasks as assigned.
Job Tasks/Duties
- Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
- Enforces club rules of safety and conduct.
- Maintains strong teamwork and professionalism among fellow pool staff.
- Renders First Aid for minor injuries according to the standards established by the American Red Cross and American Heart Association.
- Assists in the daily cleaning and maintenance of the pool area and changing rooms. This includes but is not limited to pool vacuuming, emptying automatic skimmer, skimming debris from pool surface, brushing decks and gutters, and general cleaning of the changing rooms.
- Performs required pool pre-opening and closing duties, including the straightening and organization of pool equipment and furniture.
- Assists with pool check-in and towel service when not actively stationed as a lifeguard, greeting/welcoming members and guests.
- Maintains personal lifeguarding equipment as issued by the Swimming Pool Manager.
- Promptly reports incidents and potential concerns to Swimming Pool Manager.
- Attends all meetings as directed by the Swimming Pool Manager.
- Checks first aid supplies and reports needed items.
- Maintains all necessary records determined by the Swimming Pool Manager.
- Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Swimming Pool Manager.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- This position requires a seasonal, summer daytime availability, including weekends. Holiday work will be required from time to time.
- Working conditions are that of an outdoor pool environment and are often, sunny, hot, humid, slippery and wet.
- Ability to perform lifeguarding skills as required by Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
- Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Able to tolerate the smell of chlorine and frequent exposure to cleaning agents.
- Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds individually.
