Job description

Westminster Schools of Augusta is seeking a CFO / Director of Finance for the 2024-2025 school year.

This person will assume a strategic role in the overall management of the planning, implementing,

managing and controlling all financial and business activities of the school. The twelve-month leadership

position reports to the Head of School, is a member of the school’s ten member leadership team and

directly supervises three business office employees.

About Westminster Schools of Augusta

Westminster Schools of Augusta was founded in 1972 as a ministry of First Presbyterian Church. As a

private, Christian, college-preparatory school located in Augusta, Georgia, Westminster serves 500

students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12. The school is divided into three divisions, lower school

(pre K-5), middle school (6-8), and upper school (9-12). Westminster seeks to glorify God by providing

an excellent education that equips students to live extraordinary lives for Jesus Christ.

Essential Functions

Financial

● Responsible for all areas for the accounting function, including developing and overseeing

appropriate financial procedures and controls.

● Responsible for the preparation and presentation of monthly financial statements and analysis of

accounts.

● Responsible for the development of and monitoring of the annual financial budget.

● Responsible for the annual audit.

● Propose and administer long range financial plans.

● Propose and administer short and long-range cash flow plans and short term investment plans

based on the school’s master budget.

● Responsible for accounts receivable collections, accounts payable, purchasing process, and

payroll processing.

● Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and

applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.

● Serve as the school’s steward of 501(c)(3) status and ensure compliance with IRS regulations and

reporting requirements.

● Proactively and continuously look for new ways to improve the efficiency of the school’s

financial position.

● Strategically plan for new revenue opportunities and advise on the financial impact of strategic

initiatives.

● Responsible for the creation of the salary scale and faculty and staff employment contracts.

● Prepare employment contracts and oversee the employment contract process.

● Evaluate and supervise employee benefit programs.

● Serves as an advisor and resource for human resource, legal compliance, and with regard to risk

management

● Evaluate, purchase and oversee property, liability, directors & officer insurance and workers’

compensation insurance programs

● Review, negotiate and approve vendor contracts.

● Provide financial oversight and controls for the three parent run associations (athletic boosters,

WPA - parents, FOFA - fine arts).

Financial Aid

● Oversee the administration of the financial aid process.

● Serve as a member of the financial aid committee.

Other

● Works with the Finance Committees of the Board of Trustees.

Qualifications

● Demonstrated acceptance without reservation of the Westminster School’s Statement of Faith

● An undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or another related

field required, Master’s preferred with a demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning

● Demonstrated impact in nonprofit or business organization(s) in a senior leadership position

● Experience with strategic plan implementation

● Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make

decisions based on accurate and timely analyses

● High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results –orientation.

● Strong oral and written communication skills

● Creative, effective management and leadership

● Professional self-direction with strong work ethic

● Solid analytical, organizational and planning skills with excellent attention to detail

● Is an ideal team player exhibiting a happy, humble spirit, always learning attitude and works well

● Strong working knowledge of Excel and other important financial computer programs
