POSITION DESCRIPTION FOR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, BAPTIST STATE CONVENTION OF MICHIGAN

RECRUITED BY: Search Committee of the Baptist State Convention of Michigan

EMPLOYED BY: Baptist State Convention of Michigan

SUPERVISED BY: Executive Committee of the Baptist State Convention of Michigan

SPECIFIC DUTIES

BASIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Gives supervision to the ministries of the BSCM including, but not limited to, Church Starting & Strengthening, Cooperative Partnership, and Evangelism Development.

Administrative

●  Supervises the ministries, personnel, properties, budgets, long-range planning, legal matters, and other business matters for the BSCM.

●  Serves as the Executive Director/Treasurer and Comptroller for the BSCM (requires that this person must be bonded).

●  Creatively works with both paid and lay staff in a smaller convention structure to achieve the mission and vision of the BSCM.

Strengthening

●  Gives direct leadership to the church strengthening vision of the BSCM.

●  Develops healthy church strengthening models that leads to collaboration in starting new churches.

●  Recruits for and deploys a regional church strengthening strategy.

Relational

●  Understands the culture and needs of the diverse network of BSCM churches.

●  Proactively develops and maintains healthy partnerships with and between “BSCM pastors and planters, as well as healthy partnerships with SBC entities.

●  Willing to travel and spend time individually with pastors and church leaders all over the state of Michigan.

REQUIREMENTS

Successful candidates for this position will be able to demonstrate:

●  Spiritual maturity and sound biblical theology in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000

●  A pattern of effectiveness as a ministry/business administrator

●  Communication skills that demonstrate an ability to build bridges among diverse partners

●  A history of team-building and leadership in a multi-staff ministry setting

●  Examples of fostering and strengthening partnerships among mission organizations

●  A consistent pattern of support for the Cooperative Program, SBC entities, and other SBC causes
