Job description
Position: Staff Accountant
Project Response, Inc., established in 1990, began as a grass roots volunteer agency that operated from a shared office. We are a lifeline for people living with HIV/AIDS on the Space Coast and an Educational and testing resource for both the Space Coast and Treasure Coast areas.
As a community-based HIV/AIDS organization and case management agency, Project Response strives to provide the essential services to our clients to assist them in managing HIV disease successfully. We are a resource for youth, parents, educators, non-profit agencies, adults, and communities that need information and tools to help stop the spread of HIV.
Our agency has grown in response to the rates of HIV infection in our communities. Project Response has an opening for a Staff Accountant to join our operations department. This position performs hands-on accounting work and is an integral part of the company’s advisory team.
Primary duties/responsibilities include: - Support the Finance Director with administrative accounting processes and employee care.
- Support management in presenting complete monthly financial reports.
- Daily entry of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable into QuickBooks.
- Monthly Bank Reconciliations.
- General Ledger Account Reconciliations.
- Monthly Journal Entries.
- Payroll processing including paying employees, paying taxes, paying 403(b) payments, and filing quarterly tax reports.
- Preparing budgets and budget narratives for funding programs.
- Monitors, maintains, reviews, and analyze all financial records for the various programs.
- Prepare periodic and special financial statements and summary reports.
- Annual preparation for multiple audits.
Required qualifications and education: - A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred.
- Highly proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Five years of current accounting experience preferred.
- Some knowledge of nonprofit accounting.
- Some knowledge of grant accounting.
- Previous employment with a medium-to-large sized company preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently to produce grammatically correct documents.
- Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Self-Starter with a collaborative attitude.
Compensation: $17 - $24 per hour
