We are growing and currently have an open position for a part-time Accounting Specialist in our Frederick, Maryland office. Responsibilities: As a detail-oriented individual in our finance department, a typical day would involve managing various accounting tasks in a fast-paced environment. Start by handling accounts payable and receivable queries, ensuring timely and accurate responses to vendors and customers.Throughout the day, verify and post transaction details to our account ledgers, maintaining precision in reporting across multiple systems. Keen attention to detail will be crucial in managing filing and database organization, ensuring that financial records are up-to-date and easily accessible.Confidentiality is paramount. This position will consistently uphold strict standards in safeguarding financial information. The position plays a vital role during year-end audits, assisting with requests and providing accurate data.Analyzing variances and reconciling vendor and customer accounts will be part of the daily routine, giving time to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate financial records. Additionally, vendor invoices will be processed, as well as summaries for weekly reports to managers, keeping them informed of financial obligations.As the month-end approaches, this position actively participates in closing activities. This will involve preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and computing sales tax to ensure compliance with regulations. Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this role possesses a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, although it's not mandatory. More importantly, they should have a minimum of three years of experience in clerical accounting, preferably in a manufacturing setting.Prior familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software is a definite advantage for this position. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite is essential, with a particular emphasis on advanced Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables.The ideal candidate demonstrates an expert understanding of General Ledger systems and vendor management, showcasing highly proficient organizational, analytical, and recording abilities. Attention to detail and accuracy are paramount qualities they possess, along with a solid grasp of basic financial, tax, and accounting principles.Furthermore, they should excel in organizational skills, consistently adhering to company processes while displaying proficiency with office productivity applications and a knack for quickly grasping new systems.This candidate exhibits the ability to not only execute defined tasks efficiently but also anticipate and communicate potential issues, offering viable solutions.
