The Role
We’re adding a Staff Backend Engineer to our team to build and scale our FinTech Core. You'll work closely with business operations and the product engineering team to deliver a money-mover backend that just works. The work will include automating ledger reconciliation systems, managing payment processor integrations, and implementing our in-house banking core.

This is a high-growth opportunity with the possibility of evolving Principal Engineer and engineering management responsibilities in the future.

The Tech Stack

• Our tech stack is GCP, Go, protobufs, and MySQL.
• We have native mobile apps, an event-driven architecture on the backend, and data infrastructure for streaming analytics and ML.
• Despite a complex domain and data model, most new hires get productive on our stack within a couple of days.

What you’ll do:

• Design, develop and operate core ledger systems
• Build and maintain integrations with payment processors
• Operate and scale our internal treasury management APIs
• Debug, quantify and minimize exceptions
• Set up sustainable best practices for DevOps and FinOps, including monitoring and analytics
• Collaborate with and mentor fellow engineers
• Champion new practices to improve customer experience and enable exponential growth
• Lead and own projects end to end

What we're looking for:

• 5+ years of experience building and deploying software at scale
• 5+ years of experience in FinTech, payments or related financial systems
• Experience with our tech stack (or willingness to learn quickly/independently)
• A data-driven approach, fluency in SQL as well as Go
• Have deep experience with modern cloud technologies
• Motivated, entrepreneurially minded individuals who thrive in an environment with minimal structure, high ownership, and technically challenging problems
• Ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into pragmatic technical plans
• An efficient approach to software development that drives accuracy and user experience
