We are currently seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Midlevel DB2 Database Administrator to contribute to innovative projects aimed at safeguarding our national security. This position is available in Colorado Springs, CO, or Annapolis Junction, MD.
Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day technical support for DB2 HADR in AIX and RHEL environments.
Support chartered projects, Security Remediation, Disaster Recovery, and Standard O&M by managing and coordinating changes to DB2 (version 11.x) and DB2 FixPaks in AIX and Linux.
Implement database changes to enhance performance and security.
Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to protect databases.
Measure database performance and troubleshoot complex database and HADR issues.
Configure and monitor databases across all application services.
Configure and maintain systems, user databases, and instances in AIX and Linux environments.
Configure and maintain schemas, table spaces, tables, indexes, buffer pools, and logs.
Manage database backups and recoveries with IBM TSM.
Expertise in scripting SQL, Perl, and Shell.
Review project requests, estimating time and cost required to accomplish projects.
Basic Qualifications:
3 years hands-on DB2 administration experience, including upgrades, configuration, tuning, index creation, and performance analysis.
2 years hands-on experience with DB2 HADR installations.
Experience in configuring, securing, failing over, and optimizing databases in a high-availability environment.
Knowledge of various business processes and system modeling tools.
Hands-on experience in fault-tolerant and high-availability systems.
Experience with real-time monitoring and alerting solutions.
Familiarity with performance monitors (e.g., Omegamon).
Hands-on experience with automation tools, scripting, and database reporting metrics.
Heavy SQL experience, including writing complicated queries and tuning code.
Experience with SAN storage systems.
Expertise in backup/recovery/fail-over methods and best practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
IBM AIX Administration.
RHEL Administration.
IBM Tivoli Monitoring.
IBM Tivoli Storage Manager.
ITIL Certification.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline (3 or more years of related professional experience; education can be substituted for experience).
Security Clearance Requirements:
Active DOD Secret clearance and ability to obtain agency suitability clearance.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to remain stationary up to 75% of the time in an office environment.
Traverse between work locations to accomplish duties.
Operate IT equipment such as a computer, copier, fax machine, etc.
Communicate effectively with management and co-workers.
Read, review, and respond to electronic and verbal communications.
Willingness to support work on nights and weekends, including participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
The current contract work location requirement is to work in the office at the customer's site once weekly at a minimum.
