JOB LOCATION: St. George
FUNCTION: The Sr. Building Component Designer/ Truss Designer designs truss es for production in accordance to client specifications and supervise other designers work .
KEY ACTIVITIES:
- Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values;
- Design of roof and floor trusses using MiTek software and ensuring designs are accurate, optimized, and conforms to standards;
- Communicate with customer as necessary to provide an accurate truss design;
- Generate and provide accurate pricing and material quantities for estimating purposes;
- Design trusses for production and g enerate truss placement layouts for final construction;
- Analyze Design data ;
- Assist Design Manager to mentor and train Jr. Designers
- Peer review other designers work
- Provide job-site support, with the aid of sales department, when requested;
- Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required;
- Adhere to all safety protocols and Company policies and procedures;
- Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of floor and roof truss design process;
- Attention to detail is a must;
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints;
- Ability to calculate tributary loads, concentrated loads, and load transfer through a building;
- Knowledge of current local codes associated with truss design , wood framing, hold downs and structural components typical in wood framed buildings ;
- Knowledge of plumbing and HVAC requirements;
- Ability to create clear RFI's;
- Good written and oral communication skills ;
- Ability to work in multiple jobs simultaneously and maintain organized workflow;
- Demonstrate initiative and reliab ility with minimal supervision;
- Ability to teach and train other designers.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- 5+ years' experience in truss and construction industry;
- 5+ years' experience using MiTek Sapphire software ;
- Experience using MiTek, Alpine, InteliBuild , or ITW software preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physical Work Requirements extended periods sitting, visit jobsites and lifting up to 50lbs occasionally.
