Who We Are :

The Electric Boat Naval Architecture Department (D496) is comprised of engineers who are responsible for determining the hydrostatic and hydrodynamic characteristics of submarines, providing waterfront hydrostatics support and providing technical oversight to Electric Boats waterfront infrastructure. What We Do :

Engineers in the Naval Architecture Department are responsible for concept design, hydrodynamic and hydrostatic analyses, and waterfront shipyard support activities. This position is looking for engineers interested in using Naval Architecture fundamentals to influence the design and construction of current and future submarines. As a department with broad responsibilities, engineers will be asked to take on challenges in many areas.

Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables.

With the continued rapid construction of VIRGINIA class submarines, and the new construction of COLUMBIA class submarines, Department 496 will have need for a driven and diverse engineering team. With their project diversity and direct connection to the Groton waterfront shipyard, the department interfaces with many areas of the business. Responsibilities

Candidate must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and critical problem solving skills. Candidates must be highly motivated, perform independently, and able to interact with other groups and organizations in an engineering environment. Background or experience in marine vehicle design is strongly preferred.
