Newtek Insurance Agency is a retail and wholesale brokerage insurance agency licensed in all 50 states, specializing in the sale of commercial and health/benefits lines insurance products to the SMB market as well as various personal lines of insurance.
The AVP Insurance Services - Marketing I will work with management to learn to market and analyze coverage by working with the Business Services Specialists and the Customer Service Representatives with marketing and coverage analysis of new business for the Property and Casualty team. Ensure all pertinent documentation is received and submission packets are sent to the marketplace in a timely manner. Assist in the analysis and evaluation of new risks and provide renewal quotes, and process endorsements when needed. Ensure accurate file and database set up and attach documentation and communication in the agency management system (AMS/WorkSmart) in a timely manner. This requires the willingness to learn and ability to organize, manage multiple tasks and collaborate across the team.
Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Collaborate with the BSSs and CSRs to ensure that the submission packet (application and all pertinent documents) is complete for new accounts and then forwarded to the marketplace to obtain quotes.
- Any discrepancies and/or changes, missing information/documents should be requested from the BSS or CSR within 24 hours from receipt.
- Assist the BSS as needed by completing accords for quoting as directed by management.
- Submit completed information (submission packet) to market via online carrier portal, manual (email) submission or phone quote dependent upon the carrier process.
- Support the Business Services Specialists (BSS) and Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) in maintaining a high flow of quotes for new business by using the submission packets provided by both the BSS or CSR to obtain as many comprehensive and appropriate quote options (generally, min. of 3 quotes) prioritizing based on due dates/effective dates by collaborating with BSS or CSR and client.
- Create a BOR as needed. For example, should a BSS or a CSR have a client that wants to give us their business and not go through the marketing process, then we need to create a BOR.
- Maintain outstanding market relationships, attend carrier trainings and meetings at the direction of management.
- Work to stay informed of what each market can provide in order to obtain accurate quotes as quickly as possible.
- Share any new or changing markets, contacts, products and services among the marketing team and management.
- Escalate any concerns or questions to management.
- Assist the BSS and CSRs by sending out applications for prospective and existing clients as directed by management.
- Work with BSS or CSR to identify coverage not included in submission packet (i.e., cyber liability coverage, level of coverage, etc.).
- Prepare proposals in accordance to company standard and provide to BSS and CSR for review.
- Quote lines of business utilizing carrier systems as directed by BSS or CSR.
- Prepare finance agreements, Excess and Surplus Lines paperwork, and required supplemental applications to bind policies.
- Review all quotes received for accuracy and negotiable terms (credit opportunities) and forward to BSS following NIA Submissions format, then noted in Newtracker and WorkSmart.
- Ensure the Surplus tax calculation (if applicable) is included in the quote before forwarding to the BSS and CSR.
- Fully document and track all marketing submissions according to process and procedure familiar with Surplus Lines tax filing process, using state licenses and courtesy filers, updating Newtracker and WorkSmart on a timely basis no later than 3 days.
- Bind the policy with the carrier as needed and note account status in Newtracker (note as 'Won') and WorkSmart and issue new business email (standard template).
Qualifications include but not limited to:
- High School or equivalent experience plus minimum of 1 years of related experience in the insurance industry. Associate degree a plus.
- P&C License within the first 6 months of employment.
- Prior working experience in Sales, Marketing and/or Customer Service Representative position a plus.
- Willingness to learn and achieve a good level of expertise with markets ....
- Proactive, quick learner, focused, organized and thorough with all work.
- Basic knowledge and expertise with sales and insurance implementation of general liability, property, business owners, workers' compensation, auto liability, umbrella).
- Basic knowledge of P&C coverages including but not limited to: Product Liability, Professional liability (Errors and Omissions), Directors and Officers liability, Builder's Risk, Crime, Cyber, Flood, Bonds, Employment Practices Liability, Disability, Employee Benefits, Hired and Non-Owned Auto, Special Events, Pollution/Environmental, Construction, Trucking, Inland and Ocean Marine, Cargo, Garage Keepers, etc.
- Competent at completing Acord forms.
- Basic knowledge of insurance products and usages as well as markets and reference to markets.
- Ability to learn to read policies and break down coverage.
- Basic understanding of the appropriate markets and their relative business model.
- Possess a sense of urgency and ownership when dealing with clients and prospects of Newtek.
- Comfortable speaking on the phone, engage in daily client contact and can make outbound calls to contact clients to gather information, review policies, and coverages, etc.
- Ability to actively listen, give full attention to what other people are saying, take the time to understand the points being made, ask questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Attention to accuracy and detail in processing information.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and act with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and concisely, both orally and in writing.

- Knowledge of how to use Agency Management System such as AMS360/WorkSmart a plus.
- Strong data entry skills with accuracy at 35wpm and ability to navigate among multiple systems.
- Competent in Windows based computer applications (Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and internal systems such as NewTracker, AMS360, WorkSmart etc.
