Job description

Nursing faculty facilitate learning of nursing students and empower them with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to provide safe, cost effective and interprofessional care to clients, families and communities. Faculty shall create dynamic learning environments to engender desired cognitive, affective and psychomotor outcomes; develop students' behavioral and socialization skills expected of nursing professionals; assess and evaluate student success; participate in curriculum design and program outcomes; function as a change agent and demonstrate excellence in nursing education and nursing practice; and continuously pursue quality improvements as a nursing educator.

Faculty Qualifications

Academic Degree

Faculty appointed to the associate of science in nursing program must have a minimum of a master's degree in nursing or a related field. Experientially qualified faculty may hold a bachelor's degree in nursing or bachelor's degree with a concentration in nursing through a degree waiver approved by the program administrator.

Faculty appointed to baccalaureate or graduate level nursing programs must hold a minimum of a doctorate degree in nursing or a related field. Experientially qualified faculty may hold a master's degree in nursing or master's degree with a concentration in nursing through a degree waiver approved by the program administrator.

Experience

Faculty teaching nursing related courses must have a minimum of four years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught.

Licensure

Holds an unencumbered Registered Nurse or Advance Registered Nurse Practitioner license issued by the Florida Department of Health, a compact state, or other approved state by the College

For faculty teaching a clinical course in the nurse practitioner program, the faculty must hold an unencumbered license or other authorization to practice as a nurse practitioner as required by the state or territory.
