The ideal candidate:

Position Description
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Maintenance and Operations, this position is provided on the job training and is responsible for performing apprentice level work by assisting in all areas of the skilled trades. The position is also expected to perform basic maintenance for the District swimming pool.






Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Conducts basic servicing and adjustments of HV AC systems.
  2. Conducts basic assistance in the installations and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, or fixtures.
  3. Provides assistance with routine automotive repairs and the refueling of District vehicles.
  4. Performs basic locksmithing support functions such as, but not limited to, the cut and/or duplication of keys.
  5. Support the plumbing area by performing duties such as, but not limited to, assisting in the cutting of pipes, pre-assembly, and installations of plumbing systems and components.
  6. Conducts routine maintenance for the District swimming pool.
  7. Comply with all applicable standards, policies, or procedures, such as safety procedures or the maintenance of work areas.
  8. Performs preventive, or general maintenance, of all maintenance equipment.
  9. Transfers tools, parts, equipment, and supplies to and from workstations and other areas.
  10. Supply tools, parts, equipment, and supplies for other workers.
  11. Prepares workstations for more skilled workers.
  12. Effectively engage and support historically minoritized groups by addressing issues of equity and improving culturally responsive service-oriented practices.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to: One (1) year of experience working in construction, a skilled trade, or a related field;

AND
Must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
