Job description
The Gersh Driver Education Program is seeking a bright, energetic, and reliable Driver’s Education classroom instructor to lead a group of eager teenagers. The Driver’s Education instructor will be responsible for teaching students the rules of the road and the safe way to handle an automobile. Our program is growing fast and there is a need for additional instructors in West Hempstead. You must have a valid MV-283 certificate and a passion for educating others.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Educate students as to the rules and regulations of the NY DMV
- Give periodic exams to determine the students grasp of the material
- Create projects that will make the student be creative
- Conduct classes with subject matter experts
- Utilize new technology such as a simulator
- Maintain a consistent and safe environment for the students
- Complete daily attendance reports
- Knowledge of the classroom curriculum as per NYS DMV and State Education
- Ability to identify and apply current state law and regulations applicable to the ownership and operation of a motor vehicle in NYS
- Organization of lessons and preparation to conduct classroom instruction
- Ability to maintain a learning environment and management of a class
- Ability to assess, monitor and adjust performance as necessary
- Time management
- Ability to use visual aids and technical apparatus pertinent to the program’s curriculum
- Oral instruction presentation and delivery techniques
- Written communication skills
- Record keeping for grading purposes

Job Type: Part-time
Current Rate is $55.00 per hour.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or related experience
- Must have MV-283 certification
- Must have been a valid NYS license for two years
