British American Household Staffing

Location

Manhattan, NY | United States

Job description

A growing family based in Manhattan and Greenwich, CT, is seeking an Executive Housekeeper/Director of Interiors to join their team. The schedule for this position is variable- when the family is traveling the schedule will be a standard Monday through Friday, 40 hour week. When the family is in residence the schedule will be more intensive and will likely include weekends. The family has additional homes in Montana and St. Thomas, and the executive housekeeper will be asked to travel to these residences on occasion.

The primary functions of this position are to manage the interior of all properties, collaborate with the Property Managers to prepare the homes for visits from family and guests, and manage staff. This role is approximately fifty percent hands-on housekeeping, and 50 percent management. The family employs a housekeeping team, and this position involves working with the team to maintain cleanliness of both primary residences, including deep cleaning and tidying as needed. Management duties include scheduling on-staff housekeeping as well as contract cleaning service companies, m aintaining established cleaning standards and training all housekeeping staff as needed, and training and assisting housekeepers with specific care instructions for cleaning of artwork, fine furniture, and specialty items.

Home management is an important part of this position, and includes receiving and unpacking deliveries, laundry and dry-cleaning management, errands, home inventory and purchasing, and record keeping. This role also includes hospitality duties such as creating meal settings and serving beverages, overseeing events from planning through execution and tear down, coordinating with property managers to perform pre-arrival and post-departure residence checks, and providing hospitality and attending to guest and family needs. Candidates should have a strong background in hospitality (yacht experience is highly desired) and should feel comfortable with front-of-house duties and event planning, including flower arranging, decor, wine lists, and vendor management. The ideal candidate for this role will have stellar organization skills, and should be an excellent communicator and strong team leader.

Driving is ideal for this position as one of the residences is outside the city, and the family can provide a car for work use. Candidates must have at least three years of executive housekeeping experience, as well as experience on fine estates or yachts. There are three children and one dog in the home, so candidates should be comfortable in a dynamic family environment. Computer proficiency is required. This role is offering a competitive salary range of $100-140k, depending on experience, as well as full corporate benefits (medical, dental, 401k). If you are legal to work in the US and would like to be considered for this position, please apply to AS477.
