Job description
The CEO is responsible for leading all areas of Club administration and operational development, enhancing the utilization of data analytics to facilitate continuous organizational transformation and advancement in the areas of financial performance, Club experience and impact to youth, community partnerships, advocacy, and philanthropy.
BGC – Alaska is a complex organization with 23 Clubhouses, a licensed childcare center, and an athletic program. Many of the Clubhouses are in extremely remote areas and off the road system, requiring methods of supervision, training, and evaluation that rely on a combination of in-person and electronic communication. Clubhouses are responsive to the needs of the community and embrace local culture, operating as drop-in, before and/or after-school programs that span the state. More than 6,000 children (ages 7 to 18) are served annually in Clubhouse programs. Childcare and Athletic programs are specific to Anchorage. Childcare is licensed by the Municipality of Anchorage and serves children beginning at age 6 weeks with a capacity of 168. Athletics programs annually serve another 2,000 youth (ages 4-18). All aspects of the operations were heavily impacted by COVID-19, and the organization has been in a rebuilding phase since 2021.
Key opportunities for the CEO include instilling and maintaining a culture of safety that permeates every level of the organization, facilitating the performance growth of the management team, driving engagement with staff, Board, volunteers, and communities, managing shifting priorities, identifying, and securing new funding opportunities while maintaining and growing existing funding profiles, and managing the overall safety/risk inherent in the organization.
Leadership
- Provide leadership in conjunction with the Board of Directors in the development of 5-year strategic goals.
- Provide strategic leadership consistent with goals approved by the Board of Directors and in meeting the Organizational requirements set forth by Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Financial
- Provide leadership and prudent management of revenue and expenses while protecting and advancing the financial well-being and performance of the organization, consistent with the constraints of the annual budget and goals set forth by the Board of Directors.
Operational
- Assure safe, clean, and well-maintained facilities and environments for Club members, staff, and volunteers.
- Assure that clubhouse, especially those in remote locations, are adequately resourced to conform with local, tribal, regional, and State requirements, as well as Boys & Girls Clubs of Southcentral Alaska and Boys & Girls Clubs of America standards of operations and membership requirements.
Program
- Facilitate the staff's ability to provide safe, consistent, and impactful programming in Clubhouses, Childcare, and Athletics programs, while mitigating barriers to participation.
Safety

Personnel
- Direct the leadership team’s ability to recruit and retain high quality candidates for staff and volunteer positions.

- Oversee Human Resource verification of every volunteer and staff candidate's appropriateness in meeting high standards of moral/ethical behavior required to work with children.
Fundraising
- Lead and implement an aggressive, results-oriented resource development plan consistent with the goals and strategies of the Organization, including seeking, stewarding, and growing donors/funders, including individual, corporate, foundation, trusts, grants, and event opportunities.
- Ensure financial sustainability by actively diversifying funding sources.
Board
- Be a valued partner of the Board of Directors by providing clear, complete, and transparent data and communication to Board members to ensure they can effectively, and safety operate in their role as fiduciaries.
- Assist in recruiting and orienting new Board members with recruitment focused on diversity in thought, skill, ethnicity, gender, and interests.
- Build collaborative, transparent work relationships with all Board members, encouraging engagement.
- Assure the effective facilitation of Board and committee meetings, including scheduling, providing agendas, recording minutes and resolutions.
- Facilitate Board member fundraising activities.

Education and Experience
Degree from an accredited college or university required (Master’s degree preferred) with at least 8 years senior management experience.
