INFORMATION OFFICER I – COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING / HEADQUARTERS

The reporting location for this position is at the California Natural Resources Building (State Parks Headquarters) in Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Information Officer II (IO II) in the Communications and Marketing Division.

Under the direction of the IO II, the Information Officer I (IO I) provides support and direction to department staff, including planning, researching, writing, editing and preparing information material for dissemination through all major means of communication. Researches, writes, and edits press releases, media advisories, talking points, reports, scripts, blogs, videos, social media and other information material. The IO I will be required to provide on-camera interviews. The incumbent is also a key member of a team providing functional media, public relations, and communications guidance for the department as well as providing support to the department’s various divisions and departments statewide. Individual must embrace new technology, looking beyond State Parks’ current framework and exploring new possibilities to best serve the public.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

This position is designated as telework eligible-remote centered. However, changes to the telework program are at the department’s discretion. Remote-centered employees may be required to report in person to Sacramento headquarters and/or offsite events or locations, as determined by management, and will be required to utilize a shared workspace or “hotel” when working in the office.
