THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED MANDATORY AND MUST REPORT OR STAY OVER DURING ADVERSE WEATHER EVENTS OR OTHER EMERGENCIES.


This is an anticipated vacancy. Expected to be vacant November 1, 2022.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am - 4:30pm (30 minute lunch) On-call
This position reports to the Medical Director. Responsibilities of position include:

Medical Rounds on assigned units to evaluate all acute and non-emergent illnesses, injuries and other medical problems and to direct appropriate treatment. Provide unit coverage in the event of physician absences. Participation in the call schedule, typically 1:4 by phone coverage


Review all laboratory results, EKGs, X-rays, consultations, and other clinical data/reports and order appropriate treatment and/or further studies as indicated. Perform timely follow-up assessments. Document regularly and as resident conditions change.

Attend and participate in Treatment Team meetings. Attend weekly Medical Staff meetings. Communication and collaboration with Multidisciplinary Team and Medical Director. Attend Medical Education programs and complete ongoing reading/study to maintain current competency.

Other duties as determined by Medical Director as needed.

Longleaf Neuro Medical Treatment Center (LNMTC) is a certified Medicare and Medicaid facility nursing home that provides a continuum of care to both adults with severe and persistent mental illness that also have long-term medical conditions requiring residential, medical and nursing care, and to adults with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's or other related dementia. LNMTC facilitates high quality skilled and intermediate nursing care throughout four Nursing Unit Floors and an Alzheimer's Unit that operates 24 hours seven days a week, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts. ELIGIBILITY FOR SIGN-ON BONUS
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:

A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
  1. the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
  2. the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
  3. or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
This Sign-on Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire. Additional information regarding the Sign-on Policy can be found .


NOTE: For temporary, contract or other supplemental staffing appointments:
There are no paid leave, retirement or other benefits associated with these appointment types.
