Climate Change Fellowship Director (FW1597-VA-001)ID:FW1597-VA-001Location:Falls ChurchProgram:FWSWage/Hr:$75.00Hours/Week:20 hrs/week - Estimated 1180 hoursMinimum Age:55The Fish and Wildlife Service Experienced Services Program was established to create a unique partnership to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The Fish and Wildlife ESP connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the Fish and Wildlife Service to provide scientific, technical, and administrative services in support of the Fish and Wildlife Service priority multiple-use related programs and authorities. The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as Enrollee and are not employees of FWS or National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). NEW Solutions is the ESP Non-governmental organization (NGO) responsible for administrative aspects of the Program, and the Enrollees work under Fish and Wildlife Service direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out the Fish and Wildlife Service mission. Fish and Wildlife Service ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current, to access new training opportunities, to engage in gainful project-based positions, and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy and their own financial security. Background security investigation may be required prior to start date. Location, hours and hourly pay are noted in this position description. FWS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for approximately 1180 hours at 20 hours per week. (this is subject to change based on budget and other factors).Qualifications:Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in applied climate change science for adaptation and mitigation for the US Fish and Wildlife Service OR BA/BS Degree in Wildlife Biology and Climate ChangeExperience with the development of Climate Profiles, Climate Change Vulnerability Assessments, Climate Risk Assessments, and Climate Adaptation Plans. Experience working on Army INRMPs, especially climate change aspects. Experience working with HAF Fellows, particularly on climate change. Wildlife biology and landscape conservation experience desirable. Availability to travel occasionallyExperience required with Windows, Apple Macintosh, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPointDuties:This position entails working with a cohort of Hispanic Access Foundation (HAF) Climate Fellows and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) staff to incorporate climate change considerations into existing and planned Integrated Natural Resource Management Plans (INRMPS) for US Army installations across the 50 United States, over the 12+ months of the initial Fellowship ProgramTraining, mentoring and orientation of Climate Fellows to USFWS, DoD, Army, INRMPs, climate change, climate-related stressors and extreme events, climate profiles, climate change vulnerability assessment, climate risk assessment and climate adaptation planning.30%Participation in an informal Working Group consisting of HAF Fellows, USFWS staff, select Army staff and select collaborators (e.g., CEMML).20%Work with Climate Fellows and CEMML staff to develop, test and refine guidance and protocols for developing Climate Profiles, Climate Change Vulnerability Assessments, Climate Risk Assessments, and Climate Adaptation Planning.20%Identification and training with available online tools and resources used to prepare Climate Profiles, Climate Change Vulnerability Assessments, Climate Risk Assessments, and Climate Adaptation Plans.10%Assist Climate Fellows with actual preparation and revision of Climate Profiles, Climate Change Vulnerability Assessments, Climate Risk Assessments, and Climate Adaptation Plans.20%Other:Travel Requirements: Travel for meetings with Army and DoD Staff.
