Veterinary Support Services Program Aide - CVM

The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is seeking a Program Aide to join the Veterinary Support Services (VSS) team. The Program Aide, with their drive to help others, is an integral member of the VSS team.

In this role, you will use your knowledge of veterinary medicine and strong organizational skills to successfully perform a variety of duties that include administrative, diagnostic, and educational tasks. To be successful, you'll need strong attention to detail, the ability to identify and effectively resolve issues as they arise, and along with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills to anticipate and meet the unpredictable needs of internal and external clients alike. Employees working in the laboratory must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department.

Who We Are:

The Animal Health Diagnostic Center (AHDC) is a high visibility and high-volume veterinary diagnostic laboratory that promotes the health, productivity, and welfare of food-and fiber-producing animals, companion animals, and zoo and wildlife populations. Through its comprehensive veterinary diagnostic services, the AHDC detects animal diseases and supports animal and public health, promotes environmental stewardship, and fosters economic growth.

Veterinary Support Services (VSS) is comprised of a team of experienced veterinarians who utilize their knowledge of, and resources in, production medicine, equine and companion animal practice, agricultural industry and diagnostics to provide consultations for practitioners world-wide. They guide in test selection and strategies, interpretation of results, and disease surveillance, control and prevention. They participate in the instruction of Cornell veterinary students and residents, as well as providing continuing education and outreach to veterinary practices.

VSS works closely with t he Regulatory Affairs (RA) Unit of the AHDC. The RA assists veterinarians, clinics, authorized submitters, and exporters, and ensures compliance in testing, result reporting and documentation of submissions that are to satisfy State, federal and international regulatory requirements for the purpose of qualifying an animal or animal product for movement within the US or for export, detection and surveillance of reportable, program or emerging diseases. The unit respond s to inquiries and requests for regulatory testing, monitors sample submission and documentation from the submitters, ensures reception and recording of samples and required information, assists with coordination of testing of regulatory submissions across AHDC laboratories, addresses need for regulatory referrals to other laboratories, and reports results to local, State and National agencies, and submitters as required by State and federal legislation and regulation. The VSS and RA Unit s support the overall organization and provide AHDC internal and external clients with exceptional customer service .
