Shift: Nights + Call

Provides timely and accurate clinical assessment, care, intervention and documentation for patients that have been sexually assaulted, a victim of child abuse, elder abuse, interpersonal violence (IPV) or assault. Provides, as a service to the patient, forensic evidence collection and/or forensic photography as requested and will maintain chain of custody for such evidence. Develops a safety plan before patient’s discharge, providing resources for follow up medical care and referrals for post care support services to the patient. Collaborates with medical and nursing staff, law enforcement, and prosecutor, protective services, advocates and other agencies and entities as needed.

As a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), you will be providing timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, elder abuse, and assist patients with human trafficking concerns. You will also set up protocols for a forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, photographic documentation, and more. This role will also travel to our Bath, Stow, and Green Health and Wellness Centers. Your primary duties will include:  

• Performing and documenting sexual assault and providing forensic consultation and exams.  

• Performing a complete physical and forensic evidence collection examination including Head-to-Toe assessment for trauma, detailed genital examination, and more while reporting when appropriate.  

• Maintaining professional standards while not creating conflict of interests with employment or patient care.  

• Providing expert testimony in cases that move through the legal system.

The ideal caregiver is someone who:  

• Can provide compassionate and empathetic patient-centered care.   

• Works well in a teambuilding environment.   

• Preferably has SANE training and ED experience.

• Can be decisive in stressful situations.   

• Has effective communication skills.
