Position Summary:
This entry-level role is designed for individuals passionate about Agile methodologies, eager to support project success and facilitate effective team collaboration. As a key player in coordinating efforts between product managers, Agile coaches, and USGS technology groups like Cloud Hosting Solutions (CHS) and CTek, the Junior Scrum Master will ensure project milestones are met with efficiency and efficacy. This role offers a golden opportunity to immerse yourself in Agile project management, develop critical skills, and contribute to significant federal projects in a nurturing and progressive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate Agile Ceremonies : Efficiently schedule and facilitate key Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring active participation and effective communication within the team.
JIRA Proficiency : Utilize JIRA to manage product backlogs, sprint planning, and track the team’s progress. Ensure user stories are accurately documented, tracked, and updated, promoting transparency and clarity in project development.
Stakeholder Collaboration : Serve as the conduit for communication between the project team, USGS technology groups (CHS and CTek), product managers, and Agile coaches, fostering a collaborative project environment.
Agile Training and Compliance Monitoring : Oversee the team’s adherence to Agile training and certification requirements, working closely with Agile coaches to bridge any gaps in skills or knowledge.
Meeting Organization and Documentation : Coordinate and meticulously document Agile meetings, assisting in tracking project milestones and deliverables, and ensuring the team remains on track and informed.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Business, Accounting, or related degree.
2+ years of total work experience in systems development
Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance
Foundational knowledge of Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) with a strong interest in advancing this knowledge and practical application within project teams.
Proficiency in using JIRA for project management tasks, including backlog management, sprint planning, and progress tracking.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering positive interactions and effective collaboration among product managers, Agile coaches, technical teams, and stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with an acute attention to detail, adept at scheduling and managing multiple priorities.
A proactive team player, eager to take initiative in supporting project managers and Agile coaches in project execution and facilitating a high-performing team environment.
