Job Summary Caltech is seeking a skilled and motivated Recruiter with a proven track record to support recruitment needs for various staff level positions across the Institute. The successful candidate will establish and maintain relationships with hiring managers and assist with full life cycle recruiting operations. The Recruiter will be responsible for sourcing, screening, and presenting candidates to multiple departments within the Institute while maintaining an exemplary hiring process and candidate experience. The successful candidate will have a passion for the science and mission of Caltech and an alignment with our values and mission.
Essential Job Duties - Work in a highly collaborative manner with recruitment team, hiring managers, and others across the Institute.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand their hiring needs and develop recruitment strategies.
- Review and post job requisitions; make recommendations based on hiring needs.
- Source, screen, and present candidates; provide recommendations to hiring teams.
- Implement effective sourcing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified candidates through various channels, including platforms such as LinkedIn.
- Communicate, extend, and negotiate offers to selected candidates.
- Provide guidance and tools to managers throughout the search process on best practices for interviewing and candidate evaluation.
- Utilize and manage multiple job requisitions through the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), Taleo. Provide hiring managers with ongoing Taleo support.
- Educate hiring teams on federal, state, and Institute employment policies and procedures.
- Strong initiative, communication, relationship management, analytical and critical thinking skills with excellent judgement.
- Ensure a successful candidate experience; follow-up and communicate with candidates and hiring manager throughout recruitment process.
- Participate in the development and execution of recruitment projects.
- Perform other related responsibilities as required or assigned.
Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree.
- 3+ years of related recruiting experience or combination of education and relevant HR experience.
- Experience working with an ATS.
- Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Excellent customer service and strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent computer and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with strong work ethic; must be able to work within a team environment.
- Ability to manage workload in a constantly changing environment.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Ability to handle confidential information discretely and respond with appropriate discretion.
Preferred Qualifications - Higher education experience.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and Institute policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of OFCCP regulations and guidelines.
- Taleo and LinkedIn Recruiter experience.
