THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:
The IT Data Privacy & Protection Architect has significant responsibilities related to the Data Privacy and Protection Program. The Data Privacy & Protection Architect is responsible of the successful delivery of Ulta Data Privacy & Protection Program. The position will collaborate with all business units and leadership teams to drive Privacy & Protection by design maturity and implement data privacy controls across the organization.
YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:
- IT Governance: The establishment and oversight of an organization's approach to the use of information, digital services and associated technology. Includes responsibility for policies and practices for conformance with mandatory legislation and regulations; strategic plans for technology to enable the organization's business strategy; transparent decision making, leading to justification for investment, with appropriate balance between stakeholder benefits, opportunities, costs, and risks.
- Information Management: Responsible for overall assessment of the implications of information, both internal and external, that can be mined from business systems and elsewhere and makes business decisions based on that information, including the need to make changes to systems. Reviews proposals for new initiatives and provides specialist advice on information management.
- Information security: Owns the selection, design, justification, implementation, and management strategies to maintain the security, confidentiality, integrity, availability, accountability and relevant compliance of information systems. Communicates corporate information security policy, standards, and guidelines. Provides authoritative advice and guidance on the requirements for security controls in collaboration with experts in other functions e.g., legal, technical support.
- Relationship management: Develops long-term, strategic relationships with senior stakeholders. Facilitates open communication and discussion between stakeholders, acting as a single point of contact by developing, maintaining, and working to stakeholder engagement data protection strategies and plans. Negotiates with stakeholders at senior levels and ensures that organizational data protection policy and strategies are adhered to.
- Innovation: Manages, monitors, and seeks, opportunities, new methods, trends, capabilities, and products to the advancement of the organization. Clearly articulates, and formally reports potential benefits from both structural and incremental change.
- Business process improvement: Advises on significant enterprise level improvements and measurable business benefits by identifying, proposing, initiating, and leading significant programs of improvement. The analysis of business processes, including recognition of the potential for automation of the processes, assessment of the costs and potential benefits of the new approaches. Champions a culture of continuous improvement.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enhance & execute data privacy strategy for the organization.
- Collaborate with senior leaders for making business decisions and implementing strategic data privacy controls as part of the business initiatives.
- Understand data privacy and protection regulation requirements, and ensure systems are built with privacy by design.
- Enhance data mapping strategy’s to proactively identify data; and enable data protection & Privacy controls.
- Partner with legal teams to monitor data privacy landscape; and build strategic changes to the program implementations and demonstrate compliance to changing data privacy regulations.
- Partner with procurement and legal teams to embed data privacy and protection controls as part of the legal vendor contracts.
- Collaborates with leaders, defines data privacy design architecture by analyzing data requirements.
- Drive data classification & data privacy impact assessments across the organization
- Data privacy advisor for systems that handle confidential data.
- Develop governance to ensure data privacy controls are being effectively followed.
ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:
- 7+ years of experience in implementing and advising on privacy and data protection by design controls.
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Proven track record of delivering high quality solutions on time and on schedule.
- Experience in socializing data privacy and protection requirements and controls across the organization
- Knowledge of IT security best practice controls across multiple technologies and processes
- Highly motivated, proactive and ability to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with both internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline, a related field, or applicable work experience
- Experience in executing privacy by design controls.
- CIPP or other officially recognized certification would be desirable.
