Position Location: This is a full-time position located in Augusta. This opportunity allows partial telework with management approval.


This position serves the Subsurface Wastewater Unit at the Maine Drinking Water Program. The position assists private well owners with technical information and practical guidance in reference to water quality and quantity, and the positioning of wells on a property for compliance and resiliency. The position also oversees the third-party septic inspector training and certification for the subsurface wastewater unit as newly outlined in sections 15, 16, and 17 of the chapter 241 rules. This position additionally assists the public water system inspectors with groundwater well-related tasks.



Core Responsibilities:

As a key member of the Subsurface Wastewater Unit, your core responsibilities will include:



Minimum Qualifications: (Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience).
A six (6) year combination of education and/or experience in environmental, biological, physical science, or engineering which includes two (2) years of environmental experience. Qualifying education must include at least 15 credit hours of science or engineering coursework from an accredited educational institution.
