The Boeing Company is hiring a Mid-Level or Senior Aerodynamics Engineer focusing on Software Development to support the Flight Sciences Flight Manuals and Tools team in Everett, WA.

The Aerodynamics Performance group is part of the larger Flight Sciences organization and provides design and analysis support for all development and in-production aircraft within Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Our Aero Performance team is organized in five groups: Sales Support and Competitive Analysis, Product Development and Fleet Support, ETOPS, Flight Manuals and Performance Tools, and Certification and Fuel Mileage. These teams contribute to the entire airplane life cycle from product development to certification, production and fleet support. We work closely with other teams from Flight Sciences, Sales & Marketing, Product Development, Flight Test, and other disciplines and regulatory organizations to ensure airplanes satisfy design and certification requirements for all phases of flight including takeoff, climb, cruise, descent and landing. As an Aero Performance engineer, you'll be an integral part of ensuring the safety, performance and efficiency of current and future Boeing Commercial Airplane products.

As Flight Sciences engineer, you will perform analyses to support both airplanes in development and service. You will gain an airplane-level perspective of vehicle performance characteristics to meet our customers' overall mission performance requirements. Flight Engineering skills cover the entire product life cycle from initial vehicle concept definition, through design, test, validation and in-service support. The primary Flight Engineering skills include aerodynamics, propulsion, loads, aeroelasticity, weights, acoustics and configuration integration. You will influence the development of the airplane, verifying capabilities during the flight test program, and/or while supporting our airline customers who operate our airplanes. You will have opportunities to interface directly with other disciplines and the Flight Test community, expanding your network and sphere of influence. You will utilize a variety of computational tools and techniques to reach solutions to complex problems with competing requirements. You develop and use high fidelity steady-state and dynamic simulation models to analyze extreme flight conditions. You'll be an integral part of ensuring the safety, performance and efficiency of current and future Boeing Commercial Airplane products.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Position Responsibilities:

Flight Sciences Aero AFM & Tools is seeking engineers with Fortran development experience to help support & modernize applications used to compute certified and operational aircraft Performance characteristics including takeoff, enroute & landing scenarios.

Successful candidates will be able to bring computer science best practices to the table to translate the requirements in areas such as aerodynamic equations of motion, intensive math, physics algorithms which will be used to optimize & simulate airplane performance involving thrust/propulsion forces, and aerodynamic drag forces applied into equations of motion.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Mid - Level (Level 3):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range Mid - Level: $100,300 - $135,700

Summary pay range Senior: $121,550 - $164,450
