A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health ( ATSU - ASDOH ) invites applications for an exempt Instructional Designer on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position reports to the Vice Dean of ASDOH . The Instructional Designer will support responsible administrators and faculty to plan, design, develop, and implement education initiatives to meet ASDOH goals. They provide faculty development and training in innovative education solutions using instructional design methodologies, current technologies and educational research.

Job Duties:

+ Provide leadership and support in instructional design, course/module development, and assessment methods for faculty and administration.

+ Support and train faculty and responsible administrators in the integration of educational technology and methodology best practices into curriculum, continuing education, and faculty/staff development programs.

+ Support and train students in how to efficiently and effectively utilize integrated educational technology and methods for learning.

+ Collaborate with faculty and responsible administrators to ensure effective assessment approaches to validate credentialing and demonstration of competency.

+ Primary liaison with the ATSU Teaching & Learning Center.

+ Support faculty and responsible administrators in assessment of the effectiveness of incorporating educational technology and methodology, and conducting educational research.

+ Research emerging technology and educational methodologies.

+ Assist faculty in application and integration of best practices for online, hybrid, and classroom programs. Assess the effectiveness of integration of these strategies.

+ Provide instructional design and course development consultations, trainings and support, including writing effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts, and video scripts; know how to connect with an audience; and brainstorm creative and innovative instructional design strategies.

+ Collaborate with faculty to ensure effective assessment approaches to validate credentialing and competency.

+ Establish and maintain positive relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, and students.

+ Coach and mentor educational specialists and other related staff.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Requirements:

+ Master’s Degree required in education-related field, preference for EdD or PhD in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or education-related field.

+ 2 to 3 years’ experience.

+ Wide degree of flexibility and ability think outside the box.

+ Excellent organizational, writing, presentation and communication skills

+ IT/Computer skills – proficient in MS Office, Google Suite, LMS platforms (e.g.: Canvas), and other educational software platforms (e.g.: Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia), and video and graphic editing software.

+ Web and mobile technology skills such as HTML5, XTML , and CSS desirable.

+ Faculty training skills.

+ Independent thinking and problem solving skills.

+ Ability to deescalate in a conflict or confrontation.

+ Mature and professional people skills to work effectively with students, faculty.

+ Self-directed, takes initiative, diplomatic, discerning, calm and not prone to panic, motivated, multitasking, professional, humble, detail oriented, being a part of the solution to a problem, tolerant, flexible, sees and understands the big picture.

+ Must have adequate self-assessment skills and a knowledge of higher education. Able to work effectively and without much direction with many administrators, staff, faculty.
