Under general direction, the position supports the needs of the District by building relationships to identifying and solicit major gifts and annual funds from private individuals, corporations, or foundations to support the needs of the District. The position ensures that all charitable programs and financial disbursements are in compliance with the governing documentation of programs and state/federal regulations. The positions assists the executive in the creation of annual and long-term development and stewardship plans and is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual and corporate prospects and donors.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES - Identifies sources of funding such as, but not limited to, private individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Organizes events aimed at donor prospects to develop partnerships to support a variety of District initiatives.
- Develops strategies and action plans for donor identification, cultivation, and solicitation.
- Forecasts the potential for fundraising campaigns and activities.
- Develops charitable governing documents for donor programs.
- Directs the implementation of departmental policy changes, policy modifications, special assignments, goals, and objectives.
- Analyzes employee performance to develop performance evaluations and address performance issues for staff under responsibility.
- Participates in the District's recruitment process to assist in hiring of departmental staff.
- Apportions work amongst classified staff and unclassified staff.
- Engages in employee discipline.
- Approves paid time off for employees under supervision.
- Authorizes departmental personnel actions.
- Approves the use of financial resources up to a certain monetary value.
- Assess area operations to determine if goals and objectives have been achieved.
- Directs the preparation of federal, state, county, and District reports to ensure compliance with regulatory reporting deadlines.
- Ensures that the operations of the departmental function under responsibility comply with organizational policies and state/federal regulations.

- Apply knowledge of state and federal regulations governing charitable donations/solicitations and Title IX to develop the governing documents of donor programs, provide information about the process of developing charitable funds, and ensure that donations provided to department programs are in compliance
- Use strategies for identifying potential donors to ensure current and future funding

ABILITY TO - Maintain up-to-date on new trends and advances in the field of fundraising and development
- Effectively ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing charitable donations

- Effectively forecast the potential for fundraising campaigns and activities
- Ensure that events build relationships with current and prospective donors and result in financial support of the Foundation and/or college

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of a Bachelor's Degree and/or five (5) years of experience working with charitable organizations, or in a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Business, Communications, Art, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES - Continuously (5.6 hours - 8 hours) exhibit the ability to communicate, sit, use fine manipulation, and operate a computer.
- Seldom (30 minutes or less) exhibit mobility to travel to District locations and external locations
ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS - Continuously (5.6 hours - 8 hours) work in an indoor office environment within a moderate temperature and have continuous contact with customers, end users, and the general public.
