What you'll do: The Medical Assistant is responsible for rooming patients, documenting medical history / chief complaints, collecting vitals if necessary, communicating follow-up information with patient and provider, and otherwise generally assisting the provider within the MA scope of practice.
Candidates must have exceptional customer service skills, a positive communication style and the ability to problem-solve effectively. Multi-tasking with a high degree of accuracy is essential to providing safe, high quality patient care. At least 1 to 2 years of experience working in an outpatient clinic setting is strongly preferred. National certification as registered medical assistant preferred.
Responsibilities/Duties: - Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Collects detailed and accurate patient history.
- Prepares and maintains exam rooms with necessary instruments, equipment and supplies.
- Follows up with patient on physicians current patient care notes or instructions.
- Provides general assistance, education and information to patient questions.
- Performs post-operative wound care, suture removal, dressing change, cast removal, cast application and splint application.
- Assists physicians in setup and performance of medical procedures under the direction of physician or nurse manager.
- Maintains DME supplies.
- Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Prepares, cleans and stocks examination rooms. Assures surfaces are clear and puts away any articles that were left out and replenishes missing stock in drawers and cabinets.
- Unpacks new supply deliveries and stores away items as directed.
- Assists members of clinical support staff and physicians with all duties as necessary and appropriate. (includes patient care, post-op phone follow-up calls and other patient phone calls, medication updates)
- Documents all phone calls and actions appropriately in EMR.
- Identifies OSHA issues and communicates for correction.
- Follows all HIPAA regulations as instructed.
- Follows ONS policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties/projects as assigned.
- General knowledge of office procedures and computer systems.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

- Knowledge of Word & Outlook Required.
- Orthopedic and/or casting experience preferred.
- Knowledge of GE Centricity a plus.
- Pleasant, professional, and articulate phone skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
