HW is also a founding member of the ET&D Partnership, a collaborative industry partnership working to reduce fatalities, injuries, and illnesses in the construction industry is currently recruiting for an Business Intel Specialist, in our Pomona, CA location.
The Business Intel Specialist will work with stakeholders to understand current and future business needs and set best practices. Write complex queries within ETL workflows to gather data and use advanced data visualization techniques to present findings. Design, build, and productionize metrics, analytics, or dashboards in order to provide actionable insights from data. Support junior team members with guidance as well as quality control for analyses and dashboards.
- Design and develop end-to-end business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI, including data modeling, data integration, and report/dashboard creation.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and design efficient and visually appealing Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Develop complex Power BI data models to enable accurate and efficient data analysis and visualization.
- Conduct data profiling and analysis to identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, and anomalies, and work with stakeholders to address them.
- Create and maintain data connections and ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into Power BI.
- Optimize performance and usability of Power BI reports and dashboards by tuning queries, implementing efficient data models, and applying best practices.
- Ensure data security and compliance standards are met by implementing appropriate security measures and access controls within Power BI.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate Power BI with other systems and data sources, including on-premises and cloud-based platforms.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in Power BI and related technologies, and proactively apply them to enhance the overall BI solution.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to entry level Power BI developers, assisting them in solving complex problems and improving their skills.
- Experience in working with large and complex datasets from various sources.
- Knowledge to build multi-dimensional data models.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and design effective Power BI solutions.
- Excellent data visualization skills, with an eye for detail and a strong focus on usability and user experience.
- Familiarity with data security and compliance standards, and the ability to implement appropriate security measures within Power BI.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve data-related issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Skills/Specialties: Microsoft Power BI, SQL, ETL (Extract, transform, load).
Minimum Educational Background: BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Minimum Years of Relevant Experience: 3-5
Wage Range: $74,000 - $123,000 annually
