Job Summary
Join UT Southwestern as a Supervisor, BMT – Cellular Therapy Insurance in the BMT Program.
This person will supervise, direct, and develop staff in roles of insurance verification, prior authorization and financial clearance of inpatient and outpatient services across multiple clinics, specialties, departments and within the hospital related to stem cell transplant and cellular therapy.

Job Duties
- Provides supervision, direction, development, and guidance to staff in roles of insurance verification, prior authorization and financial clearance of inpatient and outpatient services across multiple clinics, specialties, departments and within the hospital related to stem cell transplant and cellular therapy treatments.
- Promotes professional growth, development and accountability in staff and fosters environment of shared decision-making.
- Actively assists department leadership in continuous process improvement which includes record review, staff orientation and training, staff development and successful monitoring and documentation of employee competencies. Organizes and/or leads in-service training, lectures, performance evaluations, team huddles, and other activities under the direction of the department manager.
- Supervises nursing staff and/or other non-licensed medical or office support personnel.
- Conducts onboarding of new staff members to ensure individuals possess the specialized knowledge and skills necessary to perform assigned job duties.
- Maintains performance standards by confidentially coaching and/or counseling employees and performing annual appraisals.
- Ensures departmental policies and procedures are properly followed. Assists in the development, interpretation, and implementation of new policies and procedures. • Maintains Kronos records on a daily basis, monitoring for trends that require intervention.
- Completes special projects as assigned by management. Participates in project groups and task force teams, as required.
- Generates, distributes, and maintains relevant reports for stakeholders.
- Assures compliance with local, state, and federal rules regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education
- Graduate of NLN approved nursing program
- Five (5) years’ experience in medical intake and/or care coordination to include experience in relationship development and managed care.
- BSN preferred.
- Current Texas (or BNE Compact State) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required.
