STAFF ACCOUNTANT II (Temp – 3mo + possible extension or conversion to perm)
Location: Tempe, AZ
Schedule: On-Site M-F 8am -5pm
Pay: $28-30 per hour
Our client is looking to add a skilled accounting professional to their team. Attention to detail is key! The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Accounting or Finance, with ability to handle multiple tasks with consistent quality and sense of urgency.
The Staff Accountant II will perform advanced, multifaceted accounting and related functions in such areas as ledger maintenance and analysis, cost and/or financial analysis, posting, and inventory control. Analyzes complex financial and operating data and prepares management reports, financial statements, and projections. This person will report to the Director of Accounting and work closely with internal and external partners as needed.
WHO YOU ARE FOR THE TEAM
- Two or more years of corporate accounting experience; prefer Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Business Accounting or Finance
- Working knowledge of accounting software platforms, Sage Intacct preferred
- High Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
- Personal integrity; ability to keep customer, vendor, and company confidences
- Aptitude for accuracy and meticulous detail, natural proficiency or passion for math
- Strong command of details and deadlines
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Experience creating proper storage, accurate cataloging, and documentation of processes
- Working knowledge of financial software tools to quantify and illustrate routine financial reports, statements, and/or projections Thorough knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures; multi-entity experience a plus
- Prefer experience in audit accounting
- Maintains and balances financial statements, reports, schedules, and exhibits; processes general journal entries; and processes payment, cash, purchase, travel, and related vouchers
- Audits accounting and financial documents for accuracy and compliance with departmental policies and procedures and state and federal statutes
- Classifies, codes, posts, and balances financial and accounting documents and records
- Conducts an annual inventory of equipment and property and maintain records of fixed assets
- Monitors and reviews accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness
- Researches and reconciles discrepancies in accounts or appropriation balances; and reports findings
- Participate in all aspects of the procure-to-pay process including accurate coding of expenses, proposing the scheduled payments for the week, and assisting with bank reconciliations
- Analyzes revenue and expenditure trends and monitors expenditure control
- Advises and interprets policies to fellow team members and outside persons such as customers and vendors; explains billings and reports, and resolves related problems
- Prepare monthly journal entries for accruals
- Assist with accounts receivable process including collections
- Document all accounting processes and procedures; maintain in perpetuity
- Participate in auditing projects, as appropriate to operating needs
- Oversee 1099 process at year end
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
