Job description
We are currently seeking a seasoned Vice President and visionary leader for our newly formed Machine Learning Center, who can drive our machine learning initiatives and deliver meaningful business outcomes.
The center will be embedded into our wider Research and Innovation Network and will maintain close ties to Disney Research Studios and StudioLab. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the Center's operations, working closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for increased efficiency across our Studio segment.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Development: Identify opportunities to drive efficiency through Machine Learning and AI across the Studio segment. Work closely with internal stakeholders, our chief scientist, our CTO, and subject matter experts to identify key areas of opportunity and develop a strategic plan for ML/AI implementation.
Project Portfolio Management: Develop and manage a portfolio of high-profile software projects based on machine learning. Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, meeting or exceeding defined objectives and quality standards.
Team Building and Leadership: Build and lead a world-class team of ML engineers and data scientists. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. Ensure the team is updated with the latest ML/AI trends and technologies, driving their skill development and career growth. Build strong relationships with DRS and StudioLab and foster synergies.
Financial and Business Modeling: Develop detailed business and cost models to quantify the efficiency and ROI of all projects. Provide stakeholders with regular updates and insights into the financial performance and impact of ML/AI initiatives.
Executive Communication: Communicate effectively with senior executives, providing them with clear, concise, and compelling updates on the portfolio of ML projects. Translate complex technical concepts into business language, helping executives understand the benefits and challenges of ML/AI initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field; Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
A minimum of 12+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, with at least 5 years in managing ML/AI initiatives.
Proven track record of delivering ML/AI projects that have led to significant improvements in efficiency and productivity.
Excellent leadership skills, with experience in building and managing high-performing teams.
Strong financial modeling skills, with experience in building business cases for technology investments.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex information to a non-technical audience.
