Job description
Provides consultation and ad hoc analyses to clinical and operational leaders and teams. Dives deep into their data in order to support local objectives and Dartmouth-Hitchcock priorities. Develops subject matter expertise and strong relationships. Collaborates with people across the organization and fosters a culture of data-driven decision making and data literacy. This position will support the Department of Medicine and the Department of Emergency Medicine.
- Analyzes data, provides visualization and explanations to customers to support data-driven decision making. Collaborates with colleagues for advanced analysis as needed.
- Develops metrics, key performance indicators, and identifies opportunities for improvement and further understanding.
- Acts as a liaison to all levels of the organization, providing analytical support as well as committee representation.
- Procures data as knowledge and capacity allows. Works collaboratively with colleagues to procure additional data.
- Accurately discerns the customer need and objectives and provides appropriate analytical support.
- Provides education to customers to develop and promotes data literacy across the organization.
- Coordinates with colleagues to build prototype reports and dashboards that go beyond ad hoc analysis.
- Applies guiding principles of scientific measurement and reporting in all displays of data. Continually researches and applies new statistical and analytical techniques.
- Independently manages multiple projects with time-sensitive deadlines.
- Engages with customers to help them understand and use self-service tools.
- Adheres to all D-H policies and procedures for safe data handling practices.
- Scans the external environment for new methods, skills and techniques. Engages in, models, and supports continuous learning and development through online sources, reading materials, conferences, and other learning opportunities.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
- Master’s degree with 8 years of experience in clinical quality data analytics and reporting or the equivalent in education and experience required.
- Experience with healthcare data strongly desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrates assertive and appropriate communication style with senior leaders and clinicians and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and business/non-technical audiences.
- Able to work independently and within a team environment.
- Experience with quantitative data, analytical techniques, relational databases, data visualization, and project management
- Knowledge in modern improvement methodology preferred.
