Job description
One of our automotive clients in Newmarket, ON region is looking for a Plant Controller for their facility.
Shift - Days
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct monthly reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts.
Ensure the accuracy of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets sub-ledgers.
Assist in developing and maintaining the standard costing system.
Support the annual budget preparation process.
Execute monthly bank reconciliations with accounts payable.
Coordinate the monthly closing of all sub-ledgers in the general ledger.
Generate monthly departmental reports, comparing actual vs. budget, and schedule review meetings.
Coordinate the preparation of month-end financial statements and inform the responsible supervisor or manager.
Assist the divisional controller in producing monthly reports and key measurable indicators, taking corrective actions when necessary.
Attend weekly management report-out meetings.
Assist the divisional controller in overseeing and delegating responsibilities within the department.
Aid in performance management, including communicating job expectations and conducting employee evaluations.
Assist with coaching, counseling, and discipline of employees.
Collaborate with the divisional controller and human resources in hiring processes.
Oversee onboarding and ensure completion of orientations and on-the-job training for new hires.
Identify employee development and training needs, prepare annual training plans, and submit them to the human resources department.
Evaluate training effectiveness and submit evaluation forms to the human resources department.
Participate in succession planning activities and career development initiatives.
Assist with bi-yearly job analysis.
Support the divisional controller in preparing the departmental budget annually.
Adhere to departmental and general procedures, as applicable.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager or Department Manager.
Adhere to all company safety rules, policies, and procedures, including OHSA legislative requirements.
Work in compliance with Environment, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 standards.
Qualifications:
Possess a university degree in accounting or business administration.
Hold a CPA designation.
Have a minimum of three years' supervisory/management experience.
Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Exhibit a strong understanding of government legislation related to Health & Safety,
Possess excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
