Job description
OVERALL JOB PURPOSE: CYDC is seeking a Grants Manager to plan, execute and supervise corporate, private foundation, and government grants. The position will lead all aspects of the grants lifecycle as well as shepherding the agency's program team through the grants management process (application and reporting). The Grants Manager will be the key point of contact and thought partner to our program and finance teams on all grants-related issues. The Grants Manager will also focus on expanding the prospect list and grants pipeline so that CYDC can meet current financial needs and secure new funding for the future.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant Proposal Writing & Reporting 45%
- Write letters of inquiry and grant proposals according to the requirements of each specific grant maker
- Craft grant narratives that accurately reflect CYDC's work and ethos
- Work with other departments to secure information needed for grant proposals and reports
- Review, edit and finalize each document for submission on a timely basis
- Manage all grant portals and keep each portal up to date with needed requirement
Project Management 30%
- Maintain the grants calendar of upcoming Letters of Interest, grant applications, stewardship communication, and reporting deadlines and hold stakeholders accountable to meet those deadlines
- Work with the Chief Operations Officer and Vice President of Programs to formulate budgets for proposals
- Manage government contracts and grants, including grants through the Administration for Children and Families, the SC Department of Mental Health, the SC Department of Juvenile Justice and local HUD and Community Development Block Grants. Specific responsibilities include writing renewal applications, monthly and/or quarterly reports, and budget revisions, as necessary. Interface with the Business Office for expense tracking and/or invoicing and serve as the contact point for all grantor communications. Communicate with appropriate staff and engage in ongoing communication with staff to ensure activities are compliant and deliverables are met.
- Maintain data management of grants from corporate, government, and private funders in Raiser's Edge.
- Meet regularly with the Vice President of Development and other staff members involved in grants to ensure that the team is on track for the completion of each grant application and report in a timely manner and with excellence.
Prospect Research 25%
- Work closely with the Vice President of Development to build and continually develop a pipeline of prospective funders to ensure new grants that align with CYDC's mission are being pursued on a regular basis
- Monitor federal grant sites and identify RFPs for the organization to consider; gather and synthesize relevant information regarding the RFP and share with leadership and other stakeholders
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, innovative, and creative thinker with grant proposal writing experience. They will possess the ability to take initiative, work independently, and prioritize responsibilities and deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Minimum of four years experience in grant proposal writing and prospect research, preferably with a nonprofit social service or healthcare institution.
- Ability to write clearly and informatively; ability to adapt writing styles to meet specific funder
- Skilled project management of multiple projects running simultaneously that involve multiple contributors from across the organization.
- Computer literacy: Excel, Word, and experience with online research and resources
- Knowledge of the foster care or social services industry is a
- Experience with Raiser's Edge and Instrumentl is preferable.
- CFRE or GPC certification is preferable.
